Capturing the Energy of an Inspirational Speaker

Working alongside Gavin Oattes and Tree of Knowledge, TODDCS documented the launch of Gavin’s new keynote, Confidently Lost, at the School Leaders Scotland 2025 Conference.

The Concept

Confidently Lost is a message of optimism, resilience and perspective.

Launched alongside Gavin’s new book of the same name, the keynote encourages people to embrace uncertainty rather than fear it, reminding audiences that feeling “lost” is often the beginning of discovering purpose, confidence and joy. Combining humour, deeply personal storytelling and infectious energy, Gavin creates a shared experience that resonates with the audience. Our role was to create a promotional showreel and capture audience reactions that communicate why Gavin has become one of the world’s most sought-after inspirational speakers.

The Execution

TODDCS provided comprehensive visual coverage throughout the launch event, capturing photography, keynote footage and audience interaction as the presentation unfolded.

The centrepiece of the project was the production of a new professional showreel that showcased Gavin’s unique ability to blend humour, emotion and practical insight. The edit combined energetic keynote moments, audience engagement, and previously filmed footage to reflect the rhythm and atmosphere of a live Gavin Oattes presentation.

Alongside the keynote coverage, we interviewed delegates from across the education sector immediately after the session. These authentic testimonials captured the immediate emotional response of school leaders, with attendees describing the keynote as inspiring, uplifting and deeply relatable. We also recorded interviews discussing their experiences of working with Tree of Knowledge, providing valuable social proof for both Gavin’s speaking engagements and the wider organisation.

Photography completed the content package, delivering a diverse collection of promotional imagery suitable for websites, social media, press coverage, conference brochures and future marketing campaigns. An alternative version of the video was made that only covers the event itself.

Each asset was created with longevity in mind, ensuring the content could support Gavin’s speaking engagements, book promotion and wider brand.

The Impact

The finished showreel has become a focus of Gavin Oattes’ promotional material, and the accompanying photography continues to support digital marketing, speaker profiles, press features and social media campaigns, providing a consistent visual identity across multiple platforms.

By transforming one keynote launch into a comprehensive library of promotional assets, we helped ensure that the message of Confidently Lost continues to inspire audiences and generate future bookings for Gavin.
